This is probably one challenge in life that seems to be a constant, no matter how young or old you are. Finding balance in life between working your job or business and other aspects of your life (eg. friendships, family, extra curricular activities, and your own personal time) can seem like a power struggle at the best of times.
However, you should not take this task lightly as all areas are equally important. When I first got into network marketing over 2 years ago, I spent most of my time at my job then coming home and working my business, while neglecting other areas in my life like my current relationship at the time.
The end result…
What ended up happening was that relationship ended soon after, after being together for over 2 years. Mind you, it wasn’t the sole reason why that relationship ended but what I realized afterwards was that I wasn’t finding balance in life – lesson learned.
I am back in a similar situation these days where I am balancing time spent at my job, working my home base business, spending time with friends and family, beginning a new relationship and of course finding time for myself. This may seem very daunting at first glance but if I were to eliminate or even neglect any one of those areas in my life – my overall mentality and happiness would not be optimal.
Self Audit Time!
What I find really works is conducting a self audit of yourself and your life – laying out all your priorities on your table and ensuring you are allocating time to each of those areas as best as you can. I know it sounds easier said than done, but that’s life for you…you will be constantly adjusting your priorities and shifting your focuses around from time to time.
Going back to your “Why”
Most of us network marketers got into this industry so we can eventually have the time and financial freedom that we desire, so we can spend more time with the ones we love. However, if we spend too much time focusing on our businesses and not enough on our current relationships and friendships…we are neglecting those who we are essentially working towards spending more time with in the future.
On the flip side…
If we spend too much time away from working on our businesses on a regular basis, we won’t achieve our goals that we set out for ourselves when we decided to become entrepreneurs. So make sure you do something, no matter how big or small it is, and do that each day consistently – be committed to your long term goals but also your current situation
